Frequently Asked Questions

What will discussed during the consultation?

During your consultation you will have the opportunity to see if I am the right therapist for you. There will be a form of risk assessment, history, needs and goals for therapy. I was also talk about the approaches I use in the sessions and how the sliding scale works. And if you are happy to proceed we will then arrange your first psychological session.

How long would the sessions be?

Psychological therapy sessions are 50 minutes in duration. Although weekly attendance is common, fortnight attendance can also be arranged.

How do you calculate a lower fee?

A sliding scale is offered to students if a valid student ID is provided. A sliding scale is also offered to low income households but this will be further discussed during the initial consultation.

What is the cancellation policy?

We understand the uncertainties of life and therefore we try our best to accommodate your needs should you wish to cancel or reschedule your appointment. However, late cancellations and missed appointments are to be paid in full unless 48 hours notice is given or an exceptional circumstance has arisen.

How many sessions do you offer?

The amount of session required is treated at an individual level. However, we recommend a minimum of 6 sessions and if you wish to proceed, the therapist will provide a review every 6 sessions. However, if you did proceed after the 6th session, you are not obligated to wait for another 6 sessions before you opt out. You are within your rights to end the sessions when you decide. However we encourage clients to give a session’s notice so an ethical ending is provided.

How do I know if therapy is for me?

There is no right way of knowing if therapy is for you. However if you feel as though there are experiences you’ve had or currently having that seems to affect your thoughts, behaviours and emotions, maybe therapy is for you. Sometimes as humans we want to make changes to our mindsets but don’t know how or where to start, seeing a therapist might be the best way forward. But sometimes, simply thinking about seeing a therapist means you are ready to start your psychological journey.

What approaches do you use?

As an Integrative Psychotherapist, I integrate Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Attachment Theory and Person-Centred Therapy into all my practice in order to give my clients a well rounded perspective and understanding of who there were, who there are and who they want to be!
